Uusimaa chairs the BSSSC in 2013—2016

Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council is the chair of the Baltic Sea States Subregional Co-operation (BSSSC) during 2013—2016. BSSSC is a political network for decentralized authorities in the Baltic Sea Region (BSR). It consists of 162 member regions in 10 Baltic Sea littoral states.


The EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, entrepreneurship and innovation are cross cutting themes addressed during the Uusimaa chairmanship. Questions concerning maritime issues, energy and climate, youth policy, Northern and Arctic Dimension, cohesion and transport policy are also discussed.

The 23rd BSSSC Annual Conference took place in Gotland, Sweden, on the 23rd to 25th of September 2015.
