Knowledge Region

During the past two decades the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region has developed into a dynamic knowledge hub and innovation centre in the Northern Europe.

The region has been especially commended for its creativity,  due to investment in research and development, patents and the number of people employed in the ICT field in both the private and the public sector.

PISA, the Programme for International Student Assessment in the OECD member countries, has proven the Finnish education system very successful. There is a large number of different schools offering high-standard education in the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region. Among them Helsinki University is the oldest and biggest. The City of Espoo hosts the large campus of Aalto University School of Science and Technology.

Several major international companies have their international head quarters in the region.
