Integrated Carbon Observation System (ICOS)

ICOS is a European-wide research infrastructure that produces standardised data on greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere and carbon fluxes between the atmosphere, the earth, and oceans. The Viikki Research Farm spans 155 hectares of arable land and houses 60 genetically high-merit dairy cows. It offers a modern farm infrastructure that supports diverse research needs, such as feed preservation, alternative protein crop production, dairy cow welfare studies, and dietary strategies to reduce emissions.
