On 6 December 2022, the political leaders of the Scandria Alliance, the cooperation platform for cities and regions along the corridor from Finland through Scandinavia to the Adriatic Sea, gathered in Oslo and participated in a high-level conference “European transport 2030, greener and smarter?” focusing on cross-border freight transport.

The Chairperson of the network is Mr Guido Beermann, Minister of Transport of Brandenburg (Germany). Mr Ossi Savolainen, Regional Mayor of Helsinki-Uusimaa, is one of the Vice Chairpersons.

There was a lively discussion with local politicians and stakeholders highlighting the importance of continued cross-border and transnational cooperation of cities and regions for achieving the green transition in the transport sector and contributing to the green growth along European transport corridors.

In the current changing geopolitical environment, the importance of information and experience exchange, as well as common solutions for the development of secure supply chains and sustainable transport infrastructure were emphasized by the Chairs of the Alliance. The potential and possibilities of the Scandria Alliance to promote these themes in the member regions and towards the EU were also discussed.

The Scandria Alliance is a cooperation platform for cities and regions along the corridor from Finland through Scandinavia to the Adriatic Sea to find solutions for climate-friendly and multimodal mobility and transportation. The Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council is one of the founding members of the network in 2019.
